Oregon’s Occupational Safety and Health Division is investigating how an employee at Oregon Potato Co. in Boardman severed four fingers on her right hand in a workplace accident on October 16, early morning.
The woman, who was not identified, was cleaning around machinery used to cut potatoes when the incident occurred, said OSHA spokeswoman Melanie Mesaros. She was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston for treatment.
In any investigation, Mesaros said OSHA looks into worker training, safety protocols and supervision to determine if the business violated rules or procedures.
Investigations can take up to six months to complete.
