Potatoes Victoria is being launched today to replace the previous Victorian Potato Growers Council. A division of the Victorian Farmers Federation, Potatoes Victoria has been representing Victorian potato growers for more than 20 years.

Potatoes Victoria Chairman, Frank Rovers, said the decision to rebrand was made for the benefit of organisation members, and will help in consultation with all tiers of government.

Frank Rovers, Potatoes Victoria Chairman:

“The rebranding clearly spells out who we represent to government and industry stakeholders.”

“We intend to continue to represent Victorian potato growers to all levels of government and to support growers with issues affecting their business.”

The Potatoes Victoria Executive will continue to have two representatives from the seed, fresh, crisping and processing sectors and include other industry participants as required.

Potatoes Victoria is currently working closely with Agriculture Victoria and the Victorian Certified Seed Potato Authority to finalise the industry owned Action Plan in response to the recently developed Potato Industry Strategic Plan.

Frank Rovers:

“We are looking forward to discussing the rebranding with growers over the coming months as we hold events in key growing areas.”

“I encourage all potato growers to join Potatoes Victoria and to call to find out what we are doing, as well as discuss issues affecting your business.
